Don Elzer
|
"It is my mission to create a body of work that bridges the soul of the human experience with the beauty of the earth and her inhabitants. To be successful is to be humble and simple, yet to refine my craft and to be deliberate but at the same time be naive when trying to transmit beauty that can stand alone, without my guidance.
Don Elzer was born in Vancouver, B.C. in 1957. After a career in business he became a self-taught landscape painter in 1980, studying the landscape in the Canadian Prairies and the mountains of the southern interior of British Columbia. He would receive is formal art education through Okanagan University College, where he was introduced to ceramics and sculpture. After another career in publishing and marketing he would return to his art full time in 1991.
Through gallery representation in both Canada and the United States his mixed media wall motives, masks, ceramic bas relief's, sculpture and paintings can be found in
private and corporate collections around the world.
