Artist Statement

Joyce Dessert is a member of the Pastel Society of Canada and published in "The Best Of Canadian Pastels"

I've been working in and with Pastels for over 30 years. I am originally from the US and lived in Vanderhoof, BC from 1974 to 1993. Taught Pastels there with Adult Education. Also worked with children in the Christian school there for several years in pastel.

Have displayed work in Vanderhoof, sold several pieces there, in Arts Around in Prince George and in Golden, BC. A still-life won Honorable mention in Arts Around 2000 in Golden. Also a Portrait took Peoples Choice award at the same show. I have three paintings juried for a Pastel Society show in White Rock this Fall (Oct-Nov 2000)

Pastels have been great to me over the years and now I appreciate being a part of the Monashee Arts Council in Lumby. I'm still learning - and doing - and will hopefully continue both for many more years.
