Larry MacGregor presently practices his pottery magic at his Landslide Studio near
Lumby in the North Okanagan Valley.
Larry was born in Armstrong, BC. He graduated from the Kootenay School of Fine Arts in 1972, majoring in sculpture and ceramics. MacGregor then built and ran his own studio in Nelson. A short term in Fort St. John allowed him the opportunity to participate in
forming the Peace Arts. In 1976 the potter returned to the Okanagan and settled in Lumby, building a home and studio. In the late seventies he worked in Calgary at Ceramics Canada
as a studio artist, and from 79-82 he attended the Banff School of fine Arts on full scholarship as an artist in residence. Larry MacGregor has now returned to Lumby, where he continues to operate his own studio.
The natural setting of the Shuswap River and Landslide Studio offers endless sources
of inspiration. Both artist and traditional potter, Larry incorporates local materials
and found object in his work. In his Landslide studio Larry produces functional stoneware, pottery, tiles and murals.
