Artist Statement

I have long been fascinated by gourds - their history, utility & as a vehicle for artistic expression throughout the centuries. The study of gourds and related cultures led me to experiment with them myself, allowing design and function to come from the gourds themselves as I apply colour & texture with a variety of media.
