My view of the world is colored by a forty year love affair with a piece
of land on Bessette Creek near Lumby. I first saw this place when I was
thirteen and decided to make a lifelong commitment to it when I was
twenty. During these years I have worked as a mother, gardener,
builder, tree planter, political activist and social worker but have
returned again and again to the challenge of art.
Although I am a keen environmentalist, I have a profound belief in the goodness
of human beings. And while I am aware of the changes we have
made to our environment (I didn't used to be afraid to sit in the sun) I
am hopeful that human beings can clean the planet up.
I work in a number of media: oil, pencil, ink, watercolor and,
recently, computer art. I am fascinated by the patterns of light and
water moving and shifting. My one regret is not to have studied
animation.
