On Sunday, September 10th Mural Artist Michelle Loughery completed Lumby's first Mural. It is located at the Cross Road-Building in downtown Lumby. Keeping with the Historical Theme the first two Murals will depict Lumby as it appeared in 1914 and will include a picture of Louis Morand one of our first citizens in the Lumby area as well as one of our first homesteads. The second Mural will include a picture of Moses Lumby with whom the town is currently named after.

The Saturday, November 18th is the next meeting for the Mural in A Weekend event and will be held at the Buy Low building at 9 am. All local and surrounding area artists that wish to be part of this event are asked to attend, bringing with them any of the following materials that they have available and could be used for this project. Needed are paintbrushes, tarps, paint trays, paint sticks, exterior acrylic flat water based paint, cotton or flannel rags and empty containers with lids such as
cottage cheese containers. Remember that this is the final date for submissions for the Mural in a Weekend event sp bring them with you to the meeting. Also bring with
all you ideas and enthusiasm.
Even if you are not an artist attending this meeting and have any of the above mentioned supplies that you could donate please phone Kathy Deane 547-2281 or Maureen
Thomson at 547-6988 before November 18th, or drop them off at the Lumby and
District Chamber of Commerce. The tarps do not have to be in perfect condition, as they will be used to cover the floor in the Buy Low building that has been generously donated
by Sheardowns for the preparation work for the Mural in a Weekend event. The Mural in a Weekend event will take place on the April Easter long weekend.
The Mural in a Weekend event painted by local and surrounding area artists, will be placed on the Frontier Video building wall April 2001. Preparation work on the mural will begin on November 18th in the Buy Low building.
